I believe I'm going to have to cut about 4-6 inches off my hair and I need to decide it I want it cut into a style or a shape. So let's take a vote...

Weekly Goals

Well, it's the start of a new week and I'm steadfast on setting some goals for the week.

Cook dinner all this week and don't spend more than $20 for lunch.
Clean the kitchen and bedside table before bed.
Write in my journal each day.

I'm still working on my nightly routine and finding something that works for me without too much trouble. I have a book that I need to pick up and read before the 29th so I'll be buying it this week.

On my late night Saturday nights, I would entertain myself with the B movies that played on "Up All Night" with Gilbert Godfrey. This is were I began my loved of cheesy horrible B movies like, "Prom Night w/ Mary Lou", "Porky's", "Meatballs", "Toxic Avenger" and "Slumber Party Massacre 2".

On Sunday I celebrated my 33rd birthday. Hubby and I went to Mississippi on Thursday and returned on Monday. All I wanted was to spend time with my family and have a birthday breakfast cooked by my mommy. I had a wonderful time and stole so many kisses from my nephew.

I realized over the past week or so that I've hit most of my career goals that I've set for myself. Now it's time to work on some new ones. I can't believe that I've achieved all the things that I said I wanted. I had given myself a 10 years timeline but I did it it 8 and I'm proud of myself for that.

I'm working on creating some solid structure in my routines so that my life and time can run smoothly. As I mentioned before I'm trying to implement a goal/habit each month and I'm continuing the goal of a night time routine for the month of February but I think I'm also going to start posting weekly goals/to dos like I've done in the past.

I'm traveling back to the Sip at the end of the month for my best friend AH's baby shower. It's gonna be a road trip because I'm going to Houston to pick up AW and then we're driving together to the Sip. It's gonna be fun!

Today I'm planning on catching up at work so I need to grab some coffee and a Luna bar. I'll be back later to post my weekly goals. What's going on in your life right now?

Like mostly everyone else in the world I have goals, personal and professional. Yet, I have a habit of becoming stagnate and not always following through with my goals and this has caused me some frustration. I will say that I'm much better in follow through with my professional goals that I am with my personal goals. I don't understand that thought process of why I don't value my own personal goals more that professional but it's something that I'm starting to work through and overcome.

As I sit here at my desk I've decided to implement a goal each month and work on it daily so that I becomes a habit. Some things will be incorporated in groups and others individually. Over the last week my goal has been to establish an evening routine after work that prepares me for an early bed time so I can have an early rise time. It's funny how one little thing has a great ripple effect. I hate the mornings and I'd love it I could start my daily around 9am instead of 6am.

Do you set goals and do you revisit them to see how you're coming along?

This was one of my most favorite things to play with as a kid. Play-Doh offered hours of endless play and fun. I actually had the set that is pictured above and I tell you, I never got tired of making different things. The only time I got mad is when my Play-Doh got all mixed up and it wasn't the right color anymore.

I had the worst reflux last night and I ended up drinking pickle juice to help settle it down and it totally works. I felt so much better and was finally able to go to sleep.

My nephew is the cutest thing around and I want to kiss his face off! I'm headed home in 2 weeks to kiss on him and hug on my sister!

Last night I decided to just get up and do what I wanted to do around my home instead of waiting on my husband to do it. My hubby likes to move when he wants to and at times he holds up my efforts because he "doesn't feel like doing it right now". My kitchen was a mess with two dirty sinks and dirty dishes on the counter. He is the kitchen cleaner and I was tired of waiting on him to clean it up. I got up and set the timer on the stove for 30 minutes and I was able to completely clean the kitchen and sweep with 5 minutes to spare to look up a recipe.

I need to get back into my meal planning and budgets! My financial outlook has been so bad since I stopped keeping up with a firm budget and I have to repair that ASAP! I guess I'll go home and work one out by the end of the week.

My mommy and I watch "Downton Abbey" every Sunday night on PBS and we get on the phone and cackle about the show afterwards. I love it!

Letting It All Go!

Everyone in your life is not there to benefit you, even if they are family. That's a lesson that I've had to learn over the last 4 years or so when it comes to a certain family member. Now, I'm not talking a cousin or someone distant, I'm talking about a sister.

I have an older sister that is hard to get along with. She is the type of person that enters a room and immediately posts up and evil eyes everyone, even though no one has done anything to her. How can I explain this without writing a dissertation? She's hard to get along with, always plays the victim, has the nastiest attitude, is an instigator and loves to wallow in her own pain and wants you to join her. She has very toxic behavior and I have just gotten so tired of even trying to deal with it for "family sake".

It has taken me a while to come to that decision, hence the 4 years, because I felt conflicted due to our familial relationship. Now, I just don't care! I'm not going to live my life tip toeing around a grown overly sensitive person, girl bye! You can take or leave it and I prefer if you left it. My feelings won't be hurt at all. This past year is the first where I've limited my contact with her and I tell ya'll, it's been the best one yet! So, while I was home this time, and after a confrontation with her, I decided that I would be better off with no communication with her at all. It may sound selfish but why do we have to put up with someone that adds no value to our life? We don't and I don't plan on it anymore.

I miss my new nephew Mister and I can't wait to get to him next month and steal many kisses. My sister is doing as best can be with all those hormones racing through her body. This is the first time I've seen how irrational new moms can get, but I know it's all hormonal and based in love.

I'm still pondering on my goals for this year and I will be doing a post about them. I think my approach is changing. I've come to a point where I'm really starting to care less of what people expect of me and I want to do exactly what I want to do.

I'm so glad that I'm married and I don't have to deal with single people problems. Yep, married people do have our own set of problems but I just couldn't do single in this day and age.

My dogs are getting old and they have the gas to prove it.

My job is great and I'm learning a lot about different aspects of my discipline that I've never been exposed to. I really took a big bite of my career but I'm doing well chewing it up and working it down. This is the first time in my career that I have meetings scheduled everyday and I'm the point person on projects. It's an odd realization that I'm living the work dreams that I've always had for myself.

I need to read some more books and I think me and Yepanotherone are going to work on that...Maybe.

Hey guys. Sorry that I've been gone but I was in MS with my sister. Her delivery was unexpected (kinda) because she had to be induced because of a problem with the baby. All is well now and Mister is doing well. I was busy cleaning my sister's house and cooking meals so she wouldn't have to do any of that when she got home. Plus, I was trying to stick around as long as possible because I knew I was gonna miss Mister and my sister once I was gone and I do!

Isn't he a cutie! I could just kiss is face off and I was stealing plenty of kisses while I was home!

I had the day off today so I decided to not do anything! So, I've literally laid in the bed all day playing on my iPad.

I watched Mona Lisa Smile today and I love Julia Robert's smile and laugh. I wish I had one of those big grins.

I've been doing well with my wear makeup to work deal that I have for myself. I've been doing it everyday, even if it's just powder foundation w/ mascara.

I'm so upset about the Dallas Mavericks and us not having Tyson Chandler and JJ Barea. Man, I'm just so pissed! I'm not even going to talk about it...

I had a good holiday and it was so low key and easy.

My sister is going to be delivering soon. The belly has dropped and the doc can feel the baby's head behind my sister's cervix. She's admitted to me that she's nervous now. I'm hoping she holds out another week or so.

I have some changes going on at work. My clerk is leaving and I've hired a new one and if my sister goes into labor this week my new clerk will be left alone during her first week and I so don't want that to happen.

Well, I'm about to get ready for tomorrow. Back to work...What's going on in your life right now?

As a kid the JC Penney catalog was a gateway to my imaginary world. I would dog ear the pages of toys and show them to my parents with wishful eyes.

When I became a pre-teen and teenager I would use the catalog as a wish look book for how my bedroom was going to be decorated and how my bathroom would be. I would circle the purses and shoes that I was gonna own as an adult. Every year in September I would dream a new dream of what my future life would look like, all using the catalog.

I've noticed over the years that I have some odd issues. They are mine...all mine! For istance, I have to fall asleep on my right side, my full face can not touch the sheets and my nose has to be completely free of any covers while I sleep.

The smell of popcorn makes me feel suffocated.

I don't like for hair to be in my face but I like the way it looks.

I hate to use the bathroom right after bathing because I feel like I've wasted it.

I can't walk down a dark hallway without having some Freddie Kruger flashbacks.

I can't dangle my feel over the side of the bed without some Poltergeist flashbacks.

I have to brush my teeth before I get in the shower/bath.

I have to sit in the bed and lotion my feet, I just can't do it in the bathroom.

I have to keep my car radio on even intervals of I feel weird.

I can't drive with a coat or jacket on.

I have to sit straight up in a chair, I can't lean back because it just bothers my nerves.

I have to look at people when they speak to me or I feel like I can't hear them.

I always have to put my deodorant on the right arm first.

I always have to put my left shoe on first.

I can't sleep with bedroom doors closed. Although this changes if other people are in the house or whenever we have kids.

Review: Sephora's Facial Brush

I purchased this brush from Sephora about a month ago and have used it daily with my facial cleanser. It is priced at $18 and it worth every bit of the money that I spent. And even though $18 is not a lot of money, I'm getting a $0.05 return on this brush daily and it pays for itself over a year's time.

The bristles on the white side are gentle enough not to irritate the skin but thoroughly cleans my face and the pink side gets deep into the pores. When I use my toner there is no dirt residue on my cotton pad. I'm not quite ready to drop $150 on a Clarisonic brush system so this is a good tool that offers a similar results.

I do recommend this product and I love it for daily use.

I love movie montages. They just make me feel better and make me feel like everything's okay, depending on the movie of course. The following clip is one of my favorites because there was a point in my life where my family thought I had lost my mind and had no direction. I kinda had but I didn't like them saying so and took great offense to it. Yet, whenever I watched this scene I would get the feeling of "I'm going to show them." And now, years later, I feel like I have.

And my plans for this evening, and some of the weekend, are to start the cleaning of my closet. I think I'm going to follow the advice of all the books that I've read on organization and:

Create the piles of clothing: Keep, Donate and Mend.
Organize according the type of clothing and then colors.
Turn my hangers in the opposite direction as normal and turn them the correct way once I've worn the clothing and at the end of next year I'll donate the clothing that's left turned in the wrong direction.

I know I need to figure out some type of storage for my shoes. I also have plans for cleaning and organizing my bedroom and searching for some bedside tables. I think I'm going to document this process.

I know that I have been gone forever and a day, but I'm back! So, lets have a run down on what's been going on.

1. I've gotten a new job and I'm back in management. It's funny how you believe that something will be perfect for you and when it happens it turns out not to be. Working from home is not a good thing for me. I missed the daily interactions with people and I gained a WHOLE LOTTA WEIGHT! I became so lazy and morphed into a hermit. I believe my husband thought I was depressed and I might have been for a while. So, I decided to get out of the house again. I was presented with a new job that could put me back on my career path and I'm so happy with the decision that I made to return to a hospital and management. Now, I'm the Director of HIM for a hospital and it's a big step for me. I've been a manager before but now I'm the head honcho so it's a lot of responsiblity. I'm feeling my way around and getting some things done and I'm really enjoying myself.

2. I spent some time in MS because my sister P is pregnant and I had a baby shower for her. I don't know if I've said it here before buy my sister is pregnant with her 1st baby. It's such a big deal for us because she has PCOS as well and it's such a blessing that she's pregnant. We had a wonderful baby shower and the bundle is due on January 18, 2012. We don't know the sex of the baby because she and her hubby want to be surprised when they deliver. Sister P has already made me promise to drop everything and fly home when she goes into labor and I wouldn't miss this for anything!

3. Hubby and I have been scouting for a new place to live but I think that might be on hold for a while. We both drive round trip of about 70 miles a day for work and we wanted to move closer to the middle of the commutte. Yet, we've discovered that the closer we get to Dallas the more expensive everything gets. I'm sorry but I'm just not willing to pay $500 more for the same kind of home we live in now, just because it's closer to Dallas. It would take us about $4,000 to move and I ain't paying that kind of money.

4. "For sickness and in health" of our wedding vows is really getting tested right now. Hubby doesn't want me to announce this but it's my blog. I've been newly diagnosised with Type 2 Diabetes. I'm not totally surprised but it's just something that I really didn't want to have to deal with. Yesterday was my first Diabetes Education class and when I had to prick my finger for the first time my feelings were so hurt and I teared up. This is going to be a constant adjustment but I can only go up from here because to me, this is my bottom.

5. A personal overhaul is in the works for me. When my house is choatic and messy I know that my life has gotten out of control. It's been a slow spin downwards over the last year but I'm looking to change that.

Over the last month I've been very overwhelmed with life and my circumstances but I have missed the blog and my videos. There will be plenty of things to discuss and converse about so please join in the conversation. So, what's been going on in your lives?

In the past 24 hours I have become obsessed with this show. Yepanotherone and I speak about this issue a lot but she's more of an expert on it than I am and I'm grateful for the series of post that she has done on this subject. Manners...

I really do miss the regular use of good manners. It was drilled into me as a kid so it comes naturally and when I use them publically people seem so surprised. I even had an older women in the grocery store tell me that my mother did a great job raising me because I was polite, and all I said to her was "Yes Ma'am".

Adults really should expect and reinforce manners and being polite to children. I even do it in public and hubby tries to stop me but I correct children anyway. I believe in the village.

Managing a budget is a hard thing to do. I'm sitting here reconfiguring our budget because our income has changed. Since I'm no longer working 2 full-time jobs our disposable income has greatly decreased and we have the added expense of a second car payment. If I had used some foresight and waited on the car purchase we probably wouldn't have purchased the car and we'd have more disposable income. Lessons are sometimes learned the hard way.

When I was little I always wanted to wear my hair like this. I had friends that did this, especially in the summer. So, I begged and begged my mother to do this to my hair but she didn't know how to braid like this so one of her good friends did it.

I loved my hair and I shook the beads and loved the sound as I moved and ran. After about a week my mom took them out, along with a lot of my hair. Seems that my hair doesn't like braids and I never got them again.

Married Life...How I Love It!

The hubby and I have a house guest for a while. He is a friend of hubby's that just moved from MS to TX for a job. He and his girlfriend have been together for a while and I believe it's getting serious. Here's the situation.

I was doing my regular everyday thing and plating dinner for hubby when this comment was made:

DJ: I was thinking about making things official with KN and getting a ring, but I was wondering if she would be like this?
Me: Be like what?
DJ: Cook and stuff. KN doesn't cook and she said she'll learn when she has kids.
Me: She doesn't know how or she won't?
DJ: She doesn't know how, her mom didn't cook much.
Me: Well, maybe you can learn together. Is that important to you, that she cooks and such?
DJ: Yes, I'd like her to know how to do that stuff. I like it. Hubby is a lucky man, a really lucky man.

I later discussed this in depth with my hubby and he agreed with me. Men like women to know how to keep house and cook. Yes, they enjoy your accomplishments of education and career. They love that you're presentable in public, are witty and can have a great conversations. Yet, it's very important that they know that you can carry the household.

This conversation really held my attention because so many young women speak boldly about not knowing how to cook and turning up their nose at housework. I even had a conversation with a young lady that told me it wasn't natural to breastfeed and that it was disgusting. I feel bad for them because men, no matter the generation appreciate the traditional role of the woman and so many young women hate and despise the traditional role.

What was a Saturday morning without Jem? Nothing, that's what I'll tell you. Jem was the business and I loved the cartoon. I actually still watch is on HUB.

I had a Jem coloring book and just thinking about it now makes me want to find one. I thought it was so cool how she could transform into someone else just by touching her earring. I remember my older sister getting on my nerves, this was at a time when we shared a room, and I was touching my earring saying, "Please bring me a new big sister."

Yesterday, I made homemade Chicken and Dumplings. Y'all have no idea how happy and excited I am about this. I have a fear of making/baking things. The thought of making dough makes my heart palpitate but my mama did not care about my silly self induced fears and told me how to make the dough. In about 3 minutes I had a nice white/tan-ish ball of dough in my bowl. I let it rest for while, then rolled it and cut it into pieces. About an hour later we were killing my chicken and dumplings. Hubby ate more than his fair share.

In addition to my mommy being here, we also have a more permanent house guest. A friend of Hubby's moved to the DFW yesterday and was to live a family member. Well, his plans fell through so now he's staying with us. I honestly, didn't even think twice about him staying. He's a nice fella and hubby trusts him, so I'm comfortable with it and I'm glad that we are in a place in life where we can take in someone.

I guess it's time for me to start planning my sister's baby shower. I'm gonna have to stay on top of her regarding her guest list because she's a serious procrastinator.

I miss my nephew. He's in high school now and I'm sure he's super busy now. You know how high school is and he plays football as well. I can remember being at school all day, doing my after school activities, then coming home and doing my homework. By the time I finished homework/studying it was time to go to bed and repeat the next day.

Beyond Boring

My life is beyond boring. I've known it for a while and I've claimed it in a round-about way but yep, I've conceded to the fact that I'm a boring person. I'm a homebody. I don't like having to get dressed to do anything. I have to be in a "mood" to leave the house. I can easily stay in the house for a week before I notice that I haven't even set foot outside of my front or back door in a weeks time. My boring-ness thoroughly aggravates my husband. Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to change this or even get the gumption to want to change it.

Do I want to do more? Yes.

What do I plan on doing to change my current situation? I have no idea.

When I lived in MS I didn't have this problem. Well, yes I did. I didn't like to go out in large crowds of people. Being around a large number of people gets me aggravated and my attitude gets bad. So, I avoided crowds. But for some reason, I'm not that bad about it here. But I also had a lot more to do in MS. My family was there, my best friends, my sorority chapter. I kinda always had something to do. Now...nothing. My one friend that I had here is now gone and I have NO friends here. I'm not active in my sorority's chapters that are here and I have no family here. Like I said, I don't know what I'm going to do.

I loved playing Jacks as a kid. I would sit on the kitchen floor and pour the jacks out of the bag and play for the longest time. I remember my best friend and I sitting on the kitchen floor, facing each other with out Jacks between our legs and seeing who could go the fastest.

I wonder if kids nowadays even know how to play Jacks. I love going into Cracker Barrel and seeing the Jacks games for sale. Man, the good old days!

My mommy is here and we've been chillin'!

I've quit one of my full-time jobs and I'm getting a part-time job. I just couldn't do it, but I'll explain that in another post.

I'm considering going back to school but I'm not certain yet.

My mama is watching one of these crazy Lifetime movies with the deranged lady that stalking her old boyfriend. It's making my head hurt.

I need to find some new recipes to try.

Wow! It's been a long time...I shouldn've left you...without a dope beat to step to! I'm a dork!

Hey My Peoples! Well, I've come out of my hole in the ground to see that it's still sunny outside. I've been bunckered down in my work hole but now I'm back. I've got to get back to it. Blogging is something that I've always enjoyed doing and since I've been working 2 jobs it's been kinda hard to do it. But things are about to change. I think I'm going to do a video for that one.

I went and got my hair straigthen before I went home to take care of my mom. That was in the beginning of July. How about I have heat damage to the last 6 inches of my hair? Yep, and it's going to get cut off. I'm also going to do that becuase I believe my 200+ subscribers to my YouTube channel would like to follow me on that journey. You know I'll post that video over here too.

Also, my mommy is coming to stay with me for 5-6 weeks! Y'all know I'm so excited I could pee my pants! I love my mama dearly and I only get to see her for about 5-7 days at a time, each time we go home, which is usually only twice a year. So expect to see a lot about her and I'll be cooking some of her stuff while she's here and she's a bread maker so maybe some of that.

Next, hubby and I have begun to make some lifestyle changes. We watched the documentary "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead" and it has changed our outlook on things and inspired us. We've bought a juicer, it's a nice quality but we will be upgrading in the future and today we began our juices for breakfast. We are easing out way into it because quick and abrupt changes don't work well for us. This morning we had kale, carrots, an orange, apples, cucumber, pineapple and I had celery in mine. We tested one last night and hubby didn't like the celery. I'll probably do a review on the juices and vlog some of this journey. I've been talking to hubby hoping that he'll do videos with me about this whole thing. Let's pray on that!

Big changes are going down in this household and things will be very different by the end of the year. Major discussions and decisions are happening.

Oh, y'all know how I am baby making challenged...well I'm being surrounded by pregnant women. My Sister P is pregnant, my best friend AP is pregnant, 2 of my sister's best friends are pregnant and my friend and former clerk is pregnant. I'm seriously late to the party and I feel like the barren lady at the dinner party where all the wives are talking about their children. Seriously, ALL of my best friends now have children and/or are pregnant. The poetic justice is going to make me go cross-eyed!

Hey Everyone! It's been a while and I truly feel like I say that all the time now. I'm going to have to start scheduling my post ahead of time.

I'm so exhausted over this whole debate over the movie/book "The Help". Personally I enjoyed the book and I'm looking forward to going to see the movie.

I'm going to make another video on the update of our debt progression. We've made some big decisions about our life that are going to have a huge impact on the bottom line and keep us always in the black.

I miss my mommy! She called me last night at 12:30am and scared the living daylights out of me. I hate when family calls that late at night because I always think something is wrong. She was on her way back from the bathroom so she decided to call me.

My niece has her big 10th birthday next week and I'm so excited. I need to put her gift in the mail. My nephew is now playing varsity football and I'm so proud of him.

I miss school and I want to go on a serious vacation!

I was having a conversation with a young kid the other day and had to explain to them how televisions used to have knobs and how you used to have to maneuver the knobs to get to certain channels. I remember how I used to have to put the top knob on U and the bottom on 40 in order to watch WBDB!

Why Mississippi Mulatto?

I realized a few days ago that I never really explained the meaning of the name of my blog. The short of it is I'm a mulatto and I'm from Mississippi. Yet, this small truth has a lot of substance behind it.

Growing up in one of the most racist states in the country was an experience like none other.

This is my family...

and I believed that everyone's family looked like this. That is, until I got in the 2nd grade and it seemed that everyone made it a point to let me know that every family was not like this and that I was clearly different. This occurrence was a bomb shell that destroyed my perception of the world. Until that time, I truly did not see a color difference in people. That all quickly changed.

"Half-breed", "Oreo", "Zebra", "Half n Half", "High Yellow Heffa", "Hey Red", "Stuck Up White B*tch", "You think you're better than me because you're light skinned" and "You think you're better than me because you have long curly hair" became words and phrases that I heard too frequently as a child and those were just kids delivering the meanness.

There were also adults that had their own feelings regarding my existence and the audacity of my parents deciding to be a couple. There were the looks from adults and the statements from their children, "My mom said I can't play with you anymore." or "You can't come inside my house but we can play outside" or "I can play with you until my grand-dad gets home because he doesn't want me playing with you". I turned into a very imaginative and creative kid that could entertain the hell out of myself. My sister and I were great at doing that.

As I became older my uniqueness turned into a fetish attraction with boys and a bulls-eye for hatred with girls. Yet, I managed to navigate the waters really well. That is until someone I considered a friend told me that she heard a rumor that I didn't like dark skinned black people and she was so mad and frustrated with me about it. I turned to her and said, "You've seen my mother right? You know my family. So how could I have a problem with anyone's skin color?" I was really offended and I felt betrayed that someone who knew me on a personal level could just forget what they know for the sake of a rumor that had no foundation. I quickly learned that even though I didn't judge based on color or background, other people surely judged me based on it.

I also decided to embrace the fact that I was a mulatto and not apologize for it. Growing up in Mississippi some people make you feel like you should apologize for your mere existence. Especially if you are not the "norm" or what they see as acceptable. To them I say...nothing! I'm just the way I am suppose to be...A Mississippi Mulatto!

Hey My People! It’s been a few days but I’m getting better at posting…I think. Well, today I wanted to talk about vision boards. Why? Because I have one and last week I noticed the something I had on my vision has actually come to fruition.

This is my vision board and it’s not complete by any means.but what I would like to call your attention to is the “MICHAEL KORS” notation. I am a huge fan of Michael Kors and I’ve always told my hubby that I want a watch, purse and coat from him because I just love his accessories! I have always been told that I have beautiful skin and I do realize that it’s more genetics than anything else. Yet, with age also comes the need to preventative measures. When I turned 30 years old I began taking better care of my skin.

Before 30, I only rinsed my face with warm water and that was it. Since 30, I’ve begun using a cleanser, toner and moisturizer. Below are my daily staples.

The products have been very good to my face and I’ve never had any adverse reactions to them. I use the facial scrub pads every other day. I recently started using Eucerin because of the SPF 30. I live in Texas and the sun is no joke in these parts.

Now, I would love to say that I use these products twice a day but I only use them once a day in the morning. Once a day seems to work just fine for my face so I’m not changing it unless my skin tells me otherwise. I do believe that everyone, especially if you’re over 30 years old, should have some sort of daily face cleaning regimen.

So, I've been gone for almost 2 weeks but I'm back now. So, what have I been up too?

I was in Mississippi taking care of this lady....

My mom had spinal surgery on June 29th and I was home taking care of her. She had 6 rods and pins placed in her spine, decompression of the spinal column, nerve repair and 2 bone grafts. She had a serious case of degenerative disc disorder and was at the point where she couldn't walk and her nerve damage was extensive to where she was losing muscle function and her right leg was getting smaller than her left leg.

But she's doing much better now and is adjusting to a new normal and she said hi to you guys...

Tucker also did well during his heartworm procedure but he has a bad haircut from it.

The nephew T is here for the summer, like always, and he's having a good time so far.There are suppose to be some driving lessons while he's here so...ummm...I'mma let Hubby do that part.

I purchased a new car yesterday and I felt bad after I did it. Then I got yelled at by Hubby because he hates when I feel bad about doing something for myself. We've shared a car for over a year now and I needed a car for myself so it wasn't like I made a frivolous purchase. I just have issues with doing things for myself. I need to work on that.

I got to hang out with the sister P, while I was home. I guess it's safe to say now...Sister P is pregnant and I'm so excited. She's in her 4th month and is already blaming the baby for everything. Here's our conversation from last Saturday night....
Sister P: J, go to Dairy Queen and get me a blueberry parfait.
Me: I don't feel like it, you go.
Sister P: But the baby wants it. You aren't going to do that to the baby are you Auntie J? Don't be mean to the baby!

Needless to say, we all had Dairy Queen that night.

Yep, I've sucked lately. I think it's been over a week since I've posted anything.

I realized today that I've worked 41 days straight and I haven't had a day off since my anniversary. I truly need some me time.

I made a hair and eyebrow appointment for Wednesday and little baby Jesus knows that I need it! I think I'm also going to schedule and mani/pedi and a massage. Yep, I think that's going to happen because I need to pamper myself.

Today is a 14 hour day at the hospital and I'm 10 hours in and I have 4 more to go. My butt hurts from sitting in this chair for so long.

At night my brain hurts.

I'm ready to go home but I will still be working for one hospital while I'm gone and nursing my mother while I'm at home so it's really not a vacation. I get my real vacation in November when we go to Canada.

I think I'm gonna buy my watch soon.

Tucker has to get a medical procedure done while we're out of town and I pray that everything works out for him. He's my 4 legged baby and I'd be sick if anything happened to him.

I tried to talk the hubby into us getting a 3rd baby but he has vetoed me and barred any new babies in the house.

When I get home I want a Snappy Turtle from Bops!

Mississippi is just as hot as Texas right now and I'm not looking forward to that.

I have looking forward to seeing Baby B! He's growing so much.

Oh, I will be in DC in August to visit AP. She's stationed there right now for her bucket of duty and TP and I are going up to see her, so I guess that's a mini-vaca with the girlfriends. I hate that AW won't be able to make it. She's a teacher and school starts the Monday after we get back and she has to prepare.

I will have my truck paid off in August and I can't wait to call in that payment! I need to do an update on the debt series. I might do that Wednesday after my day of pampering.

I need kisses from the hubby right now!

For the past few years I've spoken about starting a garden. Well, I'm tired of speaking about it and I'm ready to get it done. Why a garden? Because food can be free! Yes, free or next to nothing and I plan on taking advantage of that. In past generations it was standard to have a vegetable patch at your home and that's what your front and/or backyards were for. I remember going to my Aunt Tea's house and she had a large vegetable patch and my mom tells me that my grandparents had one. The first home I lived in after I got married was built in 1950 and there was a greenhouse in the backyard and you could tell that they had garden rows for a backyard garden.

Honestly, I love to shell peas and shuck corn and such. I enjoy canning jams, fruits and soups. I enjoy the modern rights and freedoms of today's woman but I'm straight up old school when it comes to habits, principles, home life and values. So, today I declare the beginning of project "How Does Your Garden Grow?".

I believe exhaustion finally made it's presence known to me. Yesterday I had this uncontrollable desire to sleep and I let that feeling wash over me and I slept so much and still have the desire to sleep some more. 28 days of non-stop work is crazy and I'm crazy for doing it, but it's worth it in the long run.

I remember these ponytails. They were pretty much my hairstyle for my entire elementary school life. I rocked 2 or 3 ponytails every day. I had way to much hair for just one ponytail and my mama was so particular about the smoothness of the hair that she would brush all day to get everything slick.

This whole working two jobs thing is hard. Hard on my sleeping schedule and a mental obstacle to get over. But I can and will. I got my first set of paychecks since working two jobs and ummmm yeah, I'll be working two jobs for as long as I can stand it.

I don't think my dogs appreciate me being home all day. I think I messed up their lounging around and getting on the furniture routine. I say all of that because they stare me down while I'm at home.

I've gotten hooked on a show that I began watching on Netflix, Secret Life of an American Teenager. That show is something else. It's quite interesting to say the least.

Hubby has been wonderful with his extra help but I can not wait for our new maid to start. My house will be clean again. Yep, I'm gonna clean up some before she comes because I don't want to seem as horrible as I really am. Psst, I've never cleaned our based boards. Don't tell anyone.

My mom is have spinal surgery in June and will be off for 3 months. She's gonna spend a month out here with me and hubby and I can't wait.

We joined AAA this week. We needed to get renters insurance and I didn't know of all the great services that AAA provides. We also went there so the travel agent can plan our trip to Vancouver/Victoria. Yepanotherone, we might stop over along the way to see you! We're going the 3rd week in November.

We're also looking at a train trip to the Grand Canyon this summer. If we don't do it this summer we'll probably do it next spring.

Our 6th anniversary is in 2 weeks and I can't wait. We have a "lover's weekend" booked at one of the hotels downtown w/ massages and breakfast in bed. I can't wait!

I'm still sad that my girl T is moving to GA! DON'T GO T! COME LIVE WITH HUBBY AND I. I CAN'T MAKE IT HERE WITHOUT YOU! Yet, Hubby and I have a reason to go to GA. I'm gonna miss her so much. It took me 2 years to find her and now, 2 years later, she has to leave. Do you know how hard it is to find a great girlfriend and her hubby and your hubby get along! OMG, they get along so well. They're in one room talking non-stop and T and I are in the other talking non-stop. I'm gonna miss that!

Okay, so I've been working both jobs this week. It's a mind over matter issue and I have no choice but to do it. My hard days are Wednesday and Thursday because I work 7am-3pm for my at home job and then 4pm-12am for my hospital job. I am so tired when I get home that I just kiss hubby and get straight in the bed. Anything good is worth working hard for and my future is worth is all. Can you see how I'm hyping my brain about this whole situation? I have to. I think once I fall into a routine and get adjusting well at the new job everything will be fine.

Hubby has been so helpful this week and cooked 2 great dinners on his day to cook. Kudos Hubby!

I'm about to start shopping around for a maid. We are really going to need one.

Getting up and putting on lounging clothes, walking to my home office and working there is weird. Working from home is weird but I like it. I can't wait until I start working from home with my regular job, that will make things so easy.

My mommy is funny as hell! She had me in tears as she discussed Don.ald Tru.mp and his running for President. It's funny how she has changed from my stoic hardcore mommy to my friend mama. Old age softens them.

I'm gonna straighten my hair tonight just to make the week a little easier for me.

I miss my sister P and I can't wait to go home in July.

Guess I'll go get back to work. I have a lot of updates to clear up. I should get back to to regular posting soon. Have a great weekend.

Mattress Review

We purchased this mattress set from Mattress Firm and we got a deal on it because, unfortunately, this is being discontinued for a newer model.

I must say that I love these mattresses! I have slept so well since we've gotten them. The major sign that these were a great purchase was my hubby's reaction. With our old mattress set hubby only slept for about 4 or 5 hours and then he would get up, because his back hurt so badly, and sleep in his leather chair in the living room. Hubby has stayed in the bed all night since we've gotten these. He says that his back doesn't hurt at all anymore and he loves them. So, that right there tells me that we made a good choice.

The store has a very good warranty on the mattress. Even though this particular set isn't available any longer there is a comparable set in the new models. Check with your local mattress dealers to see what they are.

I give these 5 stars!!!

I do not function well in the afternoon. A lot of Eastern cultures and a few European believe in "siestas". Siesta is the practice of taking an afternoon nap. The original concept of a siesta seems to have been merely that of a midday break intended to allow people to spend time with their friends and family, as well as take a nap and escape from the midday heat/sun.

I wish that the siesta as a staple in our American culture because the good Lord knows that I need it.

I had to squat and pee in the smallest tube EVER this morning! I mean really...I had 2 minutes to pee into a test tube, not wash my hands and bring the tube out to the lady. I think I was imposing some of my panic that I would've felt had that happened to Hubby. I love how after all of the things with Barb, he asked her for a blessing before he died. My heart broke when Margene ran back to hug Barb and Nikki and they showed Bill's spirit sitting at the table watching them. I was done after that! Tears galore...

I loved Margene's hair at the end. Nikki is still the same but I'm so glad that she admitted her flaws to Barb. It was nice to see all of the kids back, even though Teenie really didn't surface.

I knew Bill's mom was gonna do that to herself. She couldn't take losing her mind.

I really did love this show and I'm glad that I followed it through to the end. Oh! I wonder what happened to the neighbor?

I loved to read magazines while I was a teen and I loved YM, Seveteen and Teen. Now, I promise you it's only a coincidence that Alicia Silverstone are on most of these covers, but she was a big star in the 90s.

What was you're favorite magazines. I tried to find some images of Tiger Beat or Word Up magazine but they were all plastered with Justin Beiber and I was no interested in those images. Also, can I say that I was seriously disturbed by how many p.o.rn images came up when I Googled "teen magainzes 90s". I mean really!

Married Life...How I Love It!

A large part of love and marriage is acceptance. You have to accept the fact that the person you're with is never going to change and you have to be fine with that because if you are not, you are not going to make it. You can't change a person. They can only change themselves.

I've always accepted that I can not change my husband but I always pray that he continues to grow and develop into a better man. As my sister would say, "That's the prayer of every wife." Yes, it is and it should always be. As the husband he is the head of this family and I respect that. And as the head, I pray for him so he can make the best decision. If you can pray for the someone, really pray for the best outcome for someone then you can love them, FLAWS AND ALL.

Recently we've had a major "hiccup" in our marriage and my husband has been beating himself up about because it stems from his actions. Was I mad about it? Yes, but more so frustrated than angry. Did I voice my opinion on the situation? Yes, I wouldn't be me if I didn't. Have I held it over his head? No and never will. I don't think it's fair to constantly remind someone of a mistake and I wouldn't want anyone to do it to me. Remember the "Golden Rule"?

During the discussions of this "hiccup" and it's ramifications on our family, my husband was beating himself up about it and constantly apologizing to me and seeking my approval. I'm not good at stroking egos and I couldn't take it anymore. I whipped around and looked at him and said, "You made a mistake. Stop beating yourself up over it. Learn from it and move on. Now, if we're dealing with this again a year from now I'm gonna be all over you, so let's hope that doesn't happen. I truly don't want to hear about this anymore and I don't want you behaving like this again." He looked at me and said, "Okay and thanks for being supportive."

We haven't spoken of it since. I have prayed that he grows from this and will continue to do so but I've accepted that his change will not come from me, but from himself and his desire to do better and be better. I love this man, flaws and all.

P.S. After reading this I hope none of you thought that maybe he cheated on me or something. The "hiccup" was a financial one that will set us back with our goals but it's something we can recover from in a few months. I just wanted to clarify that. Had he cheated on me y'all would be sending the collection plate around for my bail money. :)--J

The Hiccups!

Sorry that I missed yesterday, it was a "something" kind of day and I wasn't in any kind of a good mood so I felt it was best not to venture into a post. Things could have gotten out of hand. What I'd like to talk about now are "hiccups".

Hiccups are things that just pop up in your life and turn everything upside down. They derail plans, shut down communication and just sour the sweet stuff. How do you deal with hiccups?
